If your home has a well, it is recommended that you test the water regularly. Public Health offers free well water test kits to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements listed below. These tests cover bacteria, nitrates, and several metals. Call 920-834-7000 to get a test.
Oconto County residents are eligible for a free well water test kit if they meet the following criteria:
- Have a private well.
- Do not live in a mobile home park.
- Do not operate a business (such as a daycare) from this address.
- Have a pregnant woman, immunocompromised person or a child under age 12 in the home.
- Paying for private testing would be a burden on the household.
These test are for the home the Oconto County resident lives in full time. Tests will not be given out for cabins, vacation rentals, etc.
